Food Tripping in Florence

Something to slobber over through the week. I have lost the steam to write about my great dining experience. Anyway, dining experiences is to be experienced, as in, you must be there to eat. So I will let the pictures do the talking.

Out of 10+ restaurants we visited in Florence, only 1 was a miss. My husband, friends, brother and I love eating! It’s not obvious it is? My bro-in-law thinks we’re crazy for having taken so many food pics. It’s so I can salivate over them again and again.

Updates on this Mama’s life

  • Baby is movin/kicking/somersaulting so much…we think she’s trying to perfect a floor routine in preparation of a future Olympics. I want to hug her RIGHT NOW.
  • I’ve cut back on listening to pop music. Listening to oldies station, classical music or light rock instead. I want feel-good music for my baby to hear.
  • I’ve started pre-natal yoga. I’m really proud of how bendy I am ;) . Yes, we do Kegel exercises!
  • Still moody at times, and now thinking of morbid thoughts along with the moodiness. I can bounce back from it pretty quickly though.
  • I’ve come to realize I really, really want to go back to school and earn an MBA. So now when do I start?
  • I wonder how much weight I’ve gained since my last doc appt.? I think I’m on my way to gaining the max amount I’m supposed to gain. Or more!
  • I can’t cut out fast food completely. Mama flew to California for Easter and came back with a bucket of Chicken Joy for me! With that said, I really only eat fast food once a week. Ok lang?
  • Need to check out day care soon.
  • Need to get together with Mama about my baby bash aka baby shower…it’ll be coed and my dad’s flying in from Cali for the occassion.
  • I want to go shopping for new shoesies and dresses.
  • Budget = the devil! Just kidding. It is good for you or that’s what I tell myself.

There’s more but before I go on and on, I’ll just leave you all with a Happy Monday!

Hormones!!!!

I have that many exclamation marks on my title because it’s meant to be a warning….like Godzilla!!!! or Caution!!!!

In my case, I should combine Caution!!!! with Pregnant Hormones!!!!

I’ve cried twice over the weekend. Not silent tears, mind you. These tears were the tears of a child in the throes of a tantrum, may uhog at hagulhol na kasama. My husband is still alarmed when this happens, checking to see if a leg or at the very least, a finger, is broken. He heaves a sigh of relief to find that there is no real cause, physical or otherwise that is making me bawl like this, and then embraces me. He finally asks, after I’ve dropped to a keening cry, what do I want and he’ll give it to me. (Sweet!) But I’m too loopy to answer, enjoying the high of breaking down and releasing all that emotion. What do I want? I already got it, I wanted to cry. Cleansing.

And that, my friends, is why women and men are never ever gonna be able to understand each other fully.

We’re having a girl!

I couldn’t help telling hubby “I told you so.” Although he swears he knew it was going to be a girl all along. Okay. Well, we should have known anyway. The first sonogram, she had her legs closed demurely, like a real lady should. Wait, a minute, what am I saying? There’s no demure bone in my body so whose baby is this? Hahah!

Viva Italia – Days 5 and 6

I better get this reminiscing over with so I can start writing about the baby again and my current non-events. :-b

Onwards and upwards!

Day 5 – Roma!

Our pace in visiting Rome pretty much matched the pace of Rome itself. I felt like a racing car that was soon to run out of gas. Rome was a blur. Get up, shower, wait for bus, catch that bus, run here, run there, catch that bus again! See this, see that, take a picture, sit down and rest feet. Catch that bus again!

Whew! I get tired just thinking about it all.

Part of the reason for the hectic pace was we decided to do it in a day, we didn’t go with any tour groups and just went on our own. It was a totally spontaneous trip. I’m surprised with the stressful pace, we didn’t bicker amongst ourselves more. I was even more surprised when later on, when conducting a casual poll of the group’s favorite activity, almost everybody (except me) had the Rome visit at the top of their list. Everyone thought we really kicked ass, which okay, we kinda did. My friend T even said later on that I was such a trouper he totally forgot I was pregnant and to check on whether I was doing okay.

For the record, I was okay, just my feet and legs were not.

A big bad one for me. We had no time to eat while in Rome aside from snacks, and I was so hungry that on the train back, I ordered McD’s. After all the rich but comparatively healthy food I’d been eating, my body did not take kindly to being given so much grease. Oh well. I was hungry!

Here are pictures from that day. From St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican City, to the Colisseum, and the Trevi fountain. I must admit, I looooved the Colisseum:
